Title: Vitamin D and thrombosis

Vitamin D deficiency is correlated to increased risk of hypoxia-induced thrombosis, therefore I propose to review novel reports of vitamin D as a potential antithrombotic agent in this thread.

1. Preliminary evidences suggests that endogenous VDR expression can inhibit NLRP3 activation in hypoxic and sterile conditions:
2. Vitamin D is also a cheap supplement widely available without a prescription. In contrast, aspirin is no longer recommended for management and prevention of thrombosis.

3. Note: It would be therefore interesting to understand how VDR expression can suppress NLRP3 activation via PAD4 and possibly BRCC3.

4. In conclusion, it appear likely that the correlation between excessive NETs formation and thrombosis might provide evidences of the requirements of PAD4 in the pathogenesis of COVID-19 immunothrombosis:
