Evidences suggests that SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is highly reactive with thyroid peroxidase (TPO). Interestingly, it appears likely that vaccine-induced painless thyroiditis (v-PT) might affect the antigenic properties of thyroid peroxidase autoantibodies in breast tissues through a molecular mimicry mechanism, as described by Vojdani et al.
